Jimi Hendrix didn’t make many televised performances. The footage of his two-hour set at Woodstock is iconic, but his mainstream music career was tragically only about four years long and didn’t provide him all that many chances to be filmed. Luckily for posterity, one of those moments was on The Dick Cavett Show on September 9th, 1969, just one year before his death. The 1967 SG Custom he played for that appearance is now lovingly recreated in a limited run by Gibson and will be available for 150 lucky buyers. And if you are really fortunate, you might get your hands on another classic re-creation: The Jimi Hendrix 1969 Flying V in aged ebony. So slap on a pair of your favorite studio headphones and get ready to record some greatness.

Hey Joe, Check This Out

Let’s take a closer look at the 1967 SG Custom, our favorite of the two re-creations. Consider this beauty: SG Custom body shape, hand-crafted of mahogany. Murphy Lab Aged Polaris White finish with aged gold hardware. An ebony fingerboard. Custom black inlays. A custom white-black-white ‘67 Custom “Batwing” pickguard.

The switch tip? Cream. The control covers? White. The strap buttons? Brass. The control knobs? Black with gold inserts.

All of which is a long way of saying that this guitar is gorgeously — dare we say elegantly — rendered. It isn’t ostentatious. It’s just awesome.

Stone Free, But Still Pricey

We doubt you’ll be able to match Jimi’s prowess with this axe, but you’ll at least look good while you make an attempt. And good luck — this is a right-handed guitar that is strung lefty, just like Jimi’s.

The electronics (neck pickup, middle pickup, and bridge pickup) are all ‘68 Custom Humbuckers, just in case you needed a little more authenticity. If you happen to have $9,999 (MSRP) laying around, this sweet, sweet shredding machine can be yours. It includes a custom case and free shipping.

Just don’t light it on fire, okay?

The Revehō slite Collapsible Travel Guitar – An Innovative Solution for Traveling Musicians https://improb.com/the-reveho-slite-collapsible-travel-guitar/ Thu, 29 Oct 2020 14:00:26 +0000 https://improb.com/?p=42766 A modular guitar for the traveling musician.

For many folks, a guitar is their best friend and a consistent travel partner. But the size and dimensions of a guitar can make it challenging to bring along on your travels. The Reveho slite Collapsible Travel Guitar fixes that problem and allows you to make music anywhere you go. The slite is a full-size electric guitar that breaks down into five pieces in a convenient carrying case for easy travel and storage. The innovation in this guitar allows it to stay tuned, provides the ability to swap pickups, and maintains all the regular electric guitar features in a compact and portable package.

the revehō slite collapsible travel guitar

Features

The slite from Reveho is an innovative guitar that is modular, compact, and travel friendly. Even with these benefits, there’s no loss of other key features to compensate for the new technology and design. The collapsible full-size 25.5-inch wooden neck contains steel rods for additional stability and hosts 24 frets and seamless connection points. The plastic body keeps the guitar lightweight and easy to carry. The guitar’s body also includes an aluminum core, swappable pickups, a built-in pre-amp, and onboard effects. This site also comes with USB-C connectivity, a standard jack output, and a headphone jack. The slite is everything you need in an electric guitar with the bonus of portability included.

the revehō slite collapsible travel guitar

How It Works

The Reveho slite’s neck breaks down and connects via the supportive aluminum rods that provide a seamless connection between the two neckpieces. No one will be able to tell your guitar is modular once it is together. In the carrying case, the center of the guitar’s body sits below these two neckpieces, keeping the strings intact so that they don’t become damaged or need additional tuning and maintenance. The body breaks down into three parts for quick and easy storage. The outside body pieces sit opposite of the other elements in the case. Assembly takes approximately 20 seconds.

One downside to this guitar is the lack of customization in the guitar case. Because of the way the guitar is stored, there’s not many, if any, options for additional guitar cases. If more options become available, they’d likely need to come from Reveho. It is also crucial that you take extra care to ensure this guitar is stored correctly. Correct storage prevents unnecessary damage during travel and long-term storage. The slite will take a few minutes longer to store and put away than your average guitar.

the revehō slite collapsible travel guitar

The slite comes in at $1,709, and the price makes this guitar aimed at more advanced and professional musicians. If you’ve been looking for a better way to travel with your guitar, the slite from Reveho is an excellent option for your on-the-road show. If you’re already jazzed and ready to rock the stage or jam out at home with this guitar, head on over to Kickstarter to preorder your slite.  You’ll want to act fast as the campaign wraps up within the next week as of this writing.

Lava Me Pro – The Guitar of the Future

High-quality sound, high-tech features, and solid construction can be a tall ask of your average guitar. You usually have to sacrifice one quality for another. The Lava Me Pro from LAVA Music combines innovative technology, excellent sound, and all the features a professional musician could ask for in a compact instrument. This guitar delivers exceptional live performances, and LAVA built it with the future in mind.

Features

The  Lava Me Pro is excellent for stage performances. The powerful preamp system and built-in controls eliminate the need for a pedalboard. Less weight and equipment will make your set up and travel to shows quicker and easier!

Lava Me Pro

You’ve got reverb, delay, and chorus all at the touch of a finger, making it simple to add effects as you play. The Lava Me Pro also includes a Turbo button, which gives you a 50 percent boost in volume for rocking those solos or anytime you need to turn up the volume quickly. Just make sure you have an amplifier.

L.R Baggs had a significant role in developing the Lava Me Pro. The L2 Preamp was a product of this collaboration, which also produced the signature Mix-Control feature, which adjusts the sound between the built-in body mic and piezo, creating a more natural and customized tone. One of the newest features, Tap Tempo Play, allows you to shorten the delay with just a tap of your finger. These features and additions put the Lava Me Pro ahead of the pack in versatility and innovation.

Lava Me ProConstruction

The Lava Me Pro construction is wildly innovative and is ahead of its time, winning an IDEA Design award in the USA. The IDEA Design awards recognize creative and excellent product designs. Quality materials and innovative engineering make the Lava Me Pro an outstanding guitar.

Measuring in at 41 inches long and weighing 0.21 ounces, this guitar is comfortable to play and lightweight. Inspired by aviation engineering, this guitar possesses a unique honeycomb-shaped AirCarbon soundboard for an organic sound while reducing weight. The AirCarbon used in this guitar is 30 percent lighter than other carbon fiber of the same stiffness. The neck of the guitar uses an ultra-stiff carbon fiber rod and an aluminum connection structure. Lastly, the Phantom structure transfers the vibration from the Elixir NanoWeb strings to the whole soundboard with a purposeful frequency.

The engineering of the Lava Me Pro lets this guitar travel anywhere you do. The temperature range is from -13 up to 203 degrees Fahrenheit. You can rest assured the Lava Me Pro can travel well and remain functional anywhere life takes you! It adapts to weather changes during performances with ease.

Lava Me ProDownsides

The Turbo feature on the Lava Me Pro only works when an amplifier is in use. At an MSRP of $1,299,  this guitar is more expensive many others, but all of the extra features add tremendous value. This guitar is relatively compact, so keep that in mind. Built and designed specifically for professional stage performance and tours, it may not be the best choice for a garage jam session or a new guitarist.

Final Takeaways

This guitar is a standout with its blend of engineering, design, and features. The Lava Me Pro eliminates the need for pedals and offers exceptional sound quality. Your next guitar to rock the stage should be the Lava Me Pro.

Music culture could definitely be considered at a whole different level during the 1970s and 1980s. Vinyls have become much more than a disc containing music recordings. Vinyls represent an era of musical ecstasy, joy and nostaligia.

This is why Austrian startup company has developed a system that enhances the quality of our old collection of music; offering us a new, yet timeless musical experience.

The technology used in HC Vinyl offers a 30% increase in playing time and amplitude, and a higher frequency response. The audio from vinyls is digitally translated to a 3D topographic map. Then, a map is inscribed by using lasers on to a stamper that is then integrated into the vinyl.

Besides this technology used to uprade the audio experience of vinyl records, it is also enormously beneficial towards decreasing health and environmental hazards. The current and traditional process of producing vinyls actually uses many toxic chemicals that harm the manufacturers and our surroundings.

You can be sure that any product that comes from HD Vinyls is of the utmost quality. The founders of this company understand the anatomy and the importance of music. Therefore, all their energy and mental power has been invested in creating a product that is reliable and of the best quality.

The HD Vinyl records can be played on any turntable, so you won’t have to worry about making any additional purchases. You can trust HD Vinyls in producing consistent great quality in every copy that is made.

For travelling musicians, being able to take their instruments with them on every journey is something that often stays as a fantasy. One could say that guitarists and ukulele players have it the most easy, as these instruments are the most common to carry around, especially ukuleles. On the other hand, their traditional wooden body tends to crack and wear out the more they are used and handled.

However, KLOS Guitars have come out with the latest innovation in music. Using carbon fibers, KLOS Ukulele is known for its ability to be indestructible. This ukulele has had cars driving over it and blocks of cement falling on top of it to test is durability; all experiments which have left the ukulele looking pretty much intact. This said, the issue of travelling or using it on a daily basis should not be a problem whatsoever. In fact, it could last you a lifetime.

To top it off, KLOS Ukulele does not fail to deliver a high quality instrument. Its sandwich panel soundboard and upgraded stiffening rods allow players to deliver a spectacular sound across any room.

For an extremely sensible price, you will be able to take this instrument anywhere you go, all while ensuring an outstanding performance when played.

In her eleven-year career, international pop star Rihanna has produced 8 top ten albums (with her last two hitting number one), 24 top ten singles, 11 number one singles, and 8 grammy awards.

Now, you can add “having a street named after her” to that long, ever-growing list.

Rihanna’s native country of Barbados (a small island in the Caribbean Sea) is naming a street in a town where the recording artist grew up after her. The nation’s ministry of tourism made the announcement on Friday.

The street, which is currently known as “Westbury New Road,” will be renamed “Rihanna Street” in a ceremony on November 30th in Rihanna’s home town of St. Michael.

Rihanna is expected to attend the ceremony, which will be taking place on “Barbados Independence Day.”

And with very few well known celebrities of note, this may not be the last honor Rihanna receives from her homeland.

The post 8 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do on Spotify appeared first on Improb.

]]>

With 140 million users, 60 million subscribers, 30 million songs, and $5 billion in royalties paid to artists (though I must admit, it could and probably should be more), Spotify is the world’s most popular streaming service.

But while most of the almost 150 million users are familiar with Spotify’s standard functions, an overwhelming majority have no idea just how many different things they could be doing with their Spotify accounts.

The following is a list of 8 of these functions that would provide you with even more options from one of the hottest subscription services out there.

  1. Discover New Music with the “Song Radio” and “Artist Radio” Stations

spotify radio

What drew most people to Spotify was the ability to create custom playlists of any music a person wants to listen to. But just like Pandora, Spotify does have radio stations that will play music similar to one of your favorite artists or songs.

The advantage to the Spotify version is the way the service will create a playlist using songs selected by other listeners who like that artist. And with the millions of songs available in Spotify’s library, you are sure to find plenty you are not already familiar with.

  1. Shazam Songs Can be Automatically Added to Your Playlist

shazam app connect spotify

The Shazam app helps you identify music you hear out in public that you don’t recognize. But after Shazam tells you what the song is, it gives you the option to have that music added to your Spotify playlist.

  1. MagicPlaylist Also Works with Spotify

magic playlist

MagicPlaylist is a website similar to the Spotify Artist and Song Stations. However, the user gets more say in the creation of the playlist.

First, a listener types in a song into the search bar. Second, MagicPlaylist creates a list of songs based on that one title. Then, listeners can delete tracks they don’t want and listen to samples of songs they aren’t familiar with to see if those tracks make the cut.

After editing the playlist to his or her specifications, a listener then downloads the playlist directly to Spotify.

  1. Spotify Running

spotify run

Now, this one is cool and creepy at the same time.

Not only does Spotify have workout mixes available (or, of course, you can make your own gym mix), the app can use your phone’s accelerometer to automatically play music according to the pace you are setting.

So when you are running full speed, the service will deliver up a song with strong beats. Then, during the cooldown phase, your playlist will follow suit with something mellower.

  1. Crossfade

spotify hack tips

If you don’t want that awkward silence between songs, Spotify eliminates it for you with the “crossfade” option under the “preferences” and “playback” sections of your library.

That way, the upcoming song will start just before the previous song ends based on the time you set for it.

  1. Collaborative Playlist

spotify hacks and tips

“Collaborative Playlists” allow you to share your playlists with friends both on the site and throughout social media. That way, a person can simply see your track selections from his or her own device instead of you having to pass around your phone to everyone else.

  1. Playlist Miner

the playlist miner

“Playlist Miner” allows you to find the most popular music on Spotify for any occasion.

For example, if you entered in “Workout Mix” into the search bar for Playlist Miner, Spotify would find the songs on the most workout playlists and compile them into one list for you.

  1. Discover Weekly

spotify hack tips life hack

Every Monday, Spotify gives you 30 fresh tracks to sample each week through its “Discover Weekly” feature.

But since these lists disappear at the end of the week, make sure you add any new music you really like to your current playlists.
